Every August we gather senior secondary school leavers in Nigeria and Liberia for a week of the Gospel, guidance and mentorship, so the gap before post-secondary school becomes a door, not a dead end.

The burden
A gap that can cost young people their future
In West Africa, students who finish senior secondary school can wait months or even years while they write the entrance examinations for post-secondary institutions. Many also face socioeconomic challenges, and without guidance some never continue their education.
The Youth Success Conference meets them in that gap: it keeps them engaged, teaches them the faith, and motivates and empowers them for what comes next.

In line with Christ’s teaching, YSC is an evangelistic outreach of Great Door Bible Church, designed to reach young people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How the week works
One conference day, then six days of follow-up
Participants come from selected schools and communities in each location.
Day 1
The conference
Young people from across the community gather for the main conference. In Nigeria it is held at Eso Comprehensive High School, Ikoyi-Ile, in Oriire Local Government of Oyo State.
Days 2 to 7
Post-conference rallies
Small-group Bible studies for everyone who made a decision for Christ during the conference. Each rally disciples the new believers and connects them with a local church.

Dr. Solomon Olayiwola
Dr. Olayiwola leads the Great Door International Youth Outreach, which Great Door Bible Church established in 2016. Through YSC, many young people in Nigeria and Liberia have been connected to God and to the opportunities He has for their lives.

2. The Word
The Gospel preached plainly, alongside career counselling, academic seminars and inspirational songs.
3. The decision
Every young person is given the opportunity to make an informed decision to follow Jesus Christ, in Nigeria and, since 2021, in Liberia.

4. Discipleship
On days two to seven, small-group Bible studies disciple the new believers and connect them with a local church.

Health talks and the Education Support Award Program meet the practical challenges young people face.

I joined YSC at a time when I was searching for purpose and direction. I’ve grown in confidence, developed new skills and discovered my strengths, and I’ve experienced God’s presence and guidance in profound ways. I’m a living testament to the impact of YSC.
I was once a person who felt the WASSCE examination was an impossible bridge to cross. After attending YSC, I saw the possibility to write the exam and pass successfully without malpractice. May God greatly bless you people.
Mission was something I had been yearning for, but I didn’t know how to go about it. Through YSC, I have found the path to my passion, or let me say, my calling.
At my first conference in 2024, I learned from the story of Esau and Jacob that I should not compromise my faith or my life for the love of soup. As a youth, I should not labour for things that will perish. This has had a huge impact on my life.
It was great seeing people of different ages and status volunteering themselves for God’s work, and showing commitment despite the pandemic. YSC has brought me rededication, commitment, and the opportunity to serve God in mission.
YSC taught me to be intentional when answering questions, whether in math or English, and it also helped me grow spiritually. It helped me a lot in both my personal and educational growth.
Participants have been greatly advanced through the seminar, and it has improved my access to the youths in the area. The days could even be extended to two, or become a camp.
Many people surrendered their lives to Christ as their Lord and personal Saviour, and that was the greatest impact. I pray that all Liberians will get to know about it.
