How we look after your information

Who we are

This website belongs to Great Door Bible Church, 621 Oxford St, Winnipeg, MB R3M 3J3, including its Great Door International Youth Outreach and the Youth Success Conference (YSC). When this notice says “we”, it means the church.

What we collect

• The contact form. Your name, email, and if you give them, your phone number, the reason you are writing, your message and whether you would like a call.
• Prayer requests. Whatever you choose to tell us. These can be personal, so we treat them as confidential.
• The newsletter. Your email address.
• YSC volunteer registration. The YSC workers registration form asks for details such as your name, title, contact address, country and state or county, and how to reach you. It is a Google Form, so what you enter is stored by Google on our behalf.
• Giving. Gifts by Interac e-Transfer are handled by your bank. We see your name, email and the amount, which we keep for our records and for any tax receipt.
• Visiting the website. Our web host keeps standard server logs (such as your IP address, browser and the pages requested) to keep the site running and secure. They are kept for a short time and are not used to identify you.

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. If you switch between light and dark mode, that choice is saved in your own browser and is never sent to us.

How we use it

• To reply to you, plan your visit and offer pastoral care.
• To pray for you, when you ask us to.
• To send the newsletter you signed up for.
• To organize, train and contact volunteers for the Youth Success Conference.
• To record gifts and issue receipts.

We do not sell, rent or trade your information, and we do not use it for anything you would not reasonably expect.

Who can see it

Only our pastors and the staff or volunteers who need it to help you, such as the care or prayer team. They are asked to keep it confidential. Prayer requests are shared with the prayer team only as far as you allow. YSC volunteer registrations are seen by the YSC organizing team in Canada, Nigeria and Liberia.

We use trusted service providers to run the website, send email and collect volunteer registrations (Google Forms). They may store information on servers outside Canada, where it can be subject to the laws of that country. We share only what they need to provide their service.

We will disclose information without your consent only where the law requires it or to protect someone from serious harm.

Emails from us

We will only send you the newsletter if you sign up for it. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, or you can simply reply and ask us to stop.

Photos and videos

We take photos and video at services, events and the Youth Success Conference, and some appear on this website and our social media. For anyone under 18 we ask a parent or guardian for permission. If you would like a photo of you or your child removed, email us and we will take it down.

Children

This website is not meant for children to use on their own, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has sent us their details, please let us know and we will delete them.

How long we keep it

Messages and prayer requests are kept only as long as we need them to care for you, and usually no longer than two years. Volunteer registrations are kept for the conference year they are for, and deleted after the following conference unless you ask us to keep you on the volunteer list. Giving records are kept for as long as the law requires for charities. When we no longer need information, we delete it securely.

Keeping it safe

The website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and access to your information is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not send payment card details or passwords through our forms.

Your choices

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. Just contact us using the details above. We will reply within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada .

Other websites

Links to Zoom, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Google Maps, and the YSC volunteer form on Google Forms, take you to services with their own privacy policies. We do not control what they collect.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
